Zombie Chicken

The Zombie Chicken is a unique hybrid developed by crossing an Ayam Cemani rooster with a White Leghorn hen, combining the dark pigmentation of the Ayam Cemani with the outstanding egg-laying ability of the White Leghorn. The result is an eye-catching bird with black skin, smoky facial features, and light-colored feathers that create its signature "zombie" appearance. While their looks are unlike anything else in the poultry world, Zombie Chickens are also productive, hardy, and full of personality.

  • Hens: 4½–5 lbs

  • Roosters: 6–7 lbs

One of the Most Unique Chickens You'll Own

Zombie Chickens are guaranteed conversation starters. Their pale feathers contrast dramatically with their dark skin, comb, beak, and legs, giving each bird a distinctive appearance. Because they are a hybrid, feather patterns and markings can vary, making every Zombie Chicken truly one of a kind. Their unusual look makes them a favorite among backyard flock owners looking to add something rare and unforgettable.

Productive & Easy to Raise

Despite their novelty, Zombie Chickens are excellent layers thanks to their White Leghorn heritage. Hens mature early and produce a dependable supply of medium to large white or lightly tinted eggs throughout the laying season. They are active foragers, adapt well to free-range or enclosed environments, and are known for their vigor and overall hardiness, making them both practical and entertaining additions to the flock.

Management Notes

Zombie Chickens are active birds that enjoy having room to explore but also adapt well to secure backyard coops. Hens are rarely broody, allowing them to remain consistent egg producers. As a first-generation hybrid, individual birds may vary slightly in feather color, markings, and the intensity of their dark pigmentation—part of what makes this cross so unique. With quality nutrition, clean housing, and routine care, Zombie Chickens will reward you with dependable egg production and an unforgettable appearance.
